In Romania, scandalous far-right politician Kelin Georgescu has announced that he is stepping back from political life and has decided to maintain a "neutral and equidistant position, without political affiliation."

The former presidential candidate said that from now on he has decided to be a "passive observer of public and social life" and wants to focus his attention and energy on his family.

"The world is tired of conflicts, wars, haste, violence and excess of politics. In Romania, exaggerated political struggles have led to depoliticization. When people's attention is focused on political struggles that have nothing to do with the welfare of society, it means that people of professions that are important for the welfare of the country remain on the margins. Thus, the country becomes poorer. Professionalism builds the country while politics weakens it. Today, politics seems to have filled all the space," Georgescu said in a video message posted on the YouTube channel Realitatea Plus.

He thanked those who supported him, as well as those who were against him.

The former presidential candidate emphasized that his withdrawal from the political process is a personal choice.

We recall that Georgescu is under investigation for a number of charges, the most serious of which are actions against the constitutional order.
