The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov has published a video with his participation in his official Telegram account. However, instead of his own voice, the video was dubbed by an announcer. This is the first time this has been done, according to journalists who follow the Chechen leader, "We can explain".

Symbolically, the footage shows Kadyrov commenting on rumors about his illness in a foreign voice. Moreover, he does not refute them, but only speculates that human life is not in his power: "Illness and death are the path of every person. If I am destined to live 50, 60 or 70 years, I will live them as prescribed, and no one will take away a single day."

In a previous video published on Kadyrov's official channels on May 22, he inspects Grozny construction sites. He speaks little and very quietly. He looks tired and sickly.

According to Novaya Gazeta Europa, Ramzan Kadyrov has been battling a serious illness for several years. Back in 2019, he was diagnosed with pancreatic necrosis. In the spring of 2022, there were signs of kidney failure, shortness of breath and fluid stagnation in the lungs.

In September 2023, Kadyrov was urgently hospitalized with acute respiratory failure. According to the newspaper, the cause could have been an overdose of tranquilizer. And already in 2025, for the first time, he did not go to Moscow for a routine checkup, but went to the private clinic Aymed in Grozny - the institution belongs to his wife Medni Kadyrova.

Ramzan Kadyrov is unable even in his thoughts to single out anything close to this text, says Chechen human rights activist Musa Lomaev. "The message of this text suggests to me personally that Ramzan Kadyrov has finally accepted reality: his era is over and he is waiting for favor from the federal center."
