In the Venezuelan capital Caracas, special services, on the orders of dictator Nicolas Maduro, detained Colonel Roman Frolenko, president of the Russian-Venezuelan Chamber of Commerce.

According to Argentine publication Infobae.

The publication writes, citing its own sources, that the reason for the arrest was allegedly the colonel's conflict with Russian diplomats. However, neither Venezuela nor Russia has made any official announcements regarding Frolenko.

According to the media, the arrest took place on May 15. At the same time, Venezuela's Main Intelligence Directorate allegedly also conducted searches at Frolenko's home in Caracas. In addition to the colonel himself, several members of his "Cossack team" were detained.

Media reports that a few days before his arrest, Roman Frolenko held a meeting with his "Cossack team" and representatives of the Venezuelan intelligence services. During the talks, the parties noted their intentions to strengthen "historical ties" and develop new areas of security cooperation.

According to the publication's sources, the reason for the arrest was a conflict between Frolenko and Russian Ambassador to Venezuela Sergey Melik-Baghdasarov. At the same time, the official reason for the detention is suspicion of fraud.
