Russia's Second Railroad Bridge Collapsed Overnight

In the Kursk region of the Russian Federation at the 48th km of the Trosna - Kalinovka highway, a railway bridge collapsed when a freight locomotive was traveling over it. Part of the train collapsed down onto the highway under the bridge. A diesel locomotive caught fire.

"According to preliminary information, one of the diesel locomotive drivers has injured legs - the entire crew was taken to hospital. They are under the care of medics.

The road under the bridge is blocked, the traffic is organized in a detour.

The cause of the bridge collapse will be established. All operational services are working on the site," said Alexander Khinshtein, the region's acting head.

Officially, the reasons for the accident have not been announced.

It should be noted that a bridge collapsed onto a passenger train in Russia's Bryansk region tonight, killing at least seven people and injuring more than three dozen others.
