"Total Disgrace": Lukashenko Got Nervous About Potatoes Again

The dictator saw the "American scheme".
June 12, at a meeting with his administration, Alexander Lukashenko again returned to the problem of potato shortage. He said that large chains hid the vegetable in warehouses because of "politics," resented the salaries of retail chains' management and "dubious credit schemes."
- They started joking with this potato. I pick up the phone: "Gerasimov (Chairman of the SCC Vasily Gerasimov. - Ed.), sort it out and report! Together with the former prime minister. You will answer with your head. They began to sort it out - with large networks. He came in and there was nowhere to put the potatoes. It's in their warehouse. Why isn't it on the shelves? Politics. It is necessary to show that the authorities have crushed prices to such an extent that it is impossible to live on. That is, we have stepped on the pain point of these peddlers," said Lukashenko.
According to him, after the intervention of the authorities, potatoes have appeared on the shelves, but the "proceedings" are not over yet:
- I'm not saying that we have already provided the whole country with potatoes. We have. And imported. Of course, it is a total disgrace. But I will deal with the governors and with you too. It's not only potatoes.
From potatoes Lukashenko turned to trade in general.
The dictator believes that many representatives of trade take loans, then quickly repay their debts due to overpricing and start making a net profit.
- I as a real economist of the earth imagine how it all adds up. And everyone rushed into trading. Because you can make money there. And how? He took a loan. Is that his money in the bank? It's our money, the people's money. He took a loan there. He paid back the loan in 3-4 years due to the crazy uncontrolled price increase. That's it, he's making a net profit, he's resting - a founder. Lives off what? By raising prices - uncontrollably," Lukashenko described the alleged mechanism, calling it "an American scheme.
