IDF: Iran Had A Plan To Destroy Israel

The strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities and commanders are preventive in nature.

As reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Press Service, overnight more than 200 Israeli Air Force fighter jets, with precise intelligence guidance from the Intelligence Directorate, struck more than 100 targets throughout Iran, including the hideouts of the Iranian regime's top military officials.

The strikes eliminated three of the Iranian regime's most senior military commanders:

Commander of the General Staff of the Iranian regime's armed forces - Mohammad Hossein Baqeri,

Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps - Hossein Salami,

Commander of the Hatem al-Anbiya (Emergency Response Headquarters) - Hatem-Golamali Rashid.

"For years, the Iranian regime has waged a direct and indirect campaign of terror against the State of Israel, developing nuclear weapons, advanced long-range missiles and warheads, and funding and directing terrorist proxies throughout the Middle East," the army said.

The IDF said the Iranian regime has developed a specific plan to destroy the State of Israel, which consists of obtaining nuclear weapons, producing tens of thousands of missiles and UAVs, and developing plans for a combined ground offensive against Israel on several fronts simultaneously.

"The State of Israel is left with no choice. The Israel Defense Forces are obliged to act to protect the citizens of the State of Israel and will continue to do so," the military said in a statement.
