This was demanded by the owners of the Ferrero trademark.

Lithuanian customs officers destroyed 7 tons of counterfeit chocolates with the inscription "DEFFERO" at the Klaipeda seaport. The packaging design and inscriptions were identical to the products of the famous brand "FERRERO S. P. P. A.".

Customs officers suspected that it might be counterfeit goods. They detained the chocolates and launched an investigation, DELFI reports.

The transit declaration stated that the goods were made in China. The seller of the batch of sweets was identified as a Bulgarian company, and the recipient was a Belarusian company.

Klaipeda customs officers contacted the representative of the owner of the trademark "FERRERO S. P. P. A." and the latter confirmed that the detained chocolates were produced in violation of intellectual property rights. FERRERO demanded the destruction of the counterfeit goods.

It is assumed that if the detained goods had entered the market and were sold as original products, their value would have reached 282 thousand euros.
