Military Aviators Of The GUR And Budanov Were Awarded For A Unique Operation In Kiev

Lieutenant General Kirill Budanov received the highest award of the State Emergency Situations Service.

Chairman of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations Andriy Danik awarded military aviators of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for their participation in the elimination of the consequences of the Russian terrorist strike on the capital.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kiril Budanov, received the highest award of the State Emergency Service - the "Badge of Honor". Six pilots of the GUR aviation unit - Maestro, Chibis, D'Artagnan, Marcus, Dobryy and Gnome - were awarded the badge "For Valor in the emergency situation".

"The aviators of GUR acted quickly, decisively and coherently - just at the moment when it was critically important for the safety of Kiev citizens. In difficult conditions they demonstrated skill and courage. Thanks to them it was possible to localize the fire and save civilian objects. This is an example of high professionalism and reliable partnership between the services," Danik said.

"I am proud of the skill of our pilots and grateful to colleagues from the State Emergency Situations Service for the high assessment of their actions. Military intelligence is ready to act wherever there is a threat to the lives of Ukrainians," Budanov emphasized.

According to the instructions of the head of the GSD, the crews of two Ka-32 multipurpose helicopters were involved in the rescue operation. The aviators worked in conditions of heavy smoke, high temperature and squally wind. The helicopters carried out 40 water drops with a total volume of up to 120 tons, which made it possible to stop the spread of the fire and save three industrial enterprises.
