The force of the explosions felt like an earthquake.
Israel bombed a central gasoline storage facility near Tehran, The New York Times reported on the night of June 14-15.
The storage facility is located on the northern mountain slopes. The Israeli attack caused powerful explosions, an oil ministry spokesman said.
He said tanks of toliv are exploding one after another. There is a threat of serious damage to residential neighborhoods in the area.
An Iranian whose apartment in a high-rise building is directly opposite the storage facility said the force of the explosions felt like an earthquake.
Residents in northern Tehran said a large fire caused by explosions at a major fuel depot was spreading and lighting up the mountains around Tehran. Footage of the blazing fire appeared online.
A little later, the NYT wrote that according to Hamid Hossein, a member of the Iran Chamber of Commerce's energy committee, the municipality had been discussing moving the fuel depot from a residential neighborhood in northern Tehran for years. The reason was fears that an attack or accident could have catastrophic consequences.
Hosseini specified that the warehouse has at least 11 storage tanks and is located in a densely populated and affluent neighborhood with upscale restaurants, shopping centers, and high-rise buildings with rooftop swimming pools.
In the meantime, Clash Report citing Israel's Channel 14 says Israeli jets attacked a total of 4 targets in Tehran: the Defense Ministry, the headquarters of the nuclear program, nuclear laboratories and oil facilities.
