Satellite Images Reveal Damage To Iran's Nuclear Facilities

Tehran is trying to hide the truth.

The main site attacked by Israel during Operation "People Like a Lion" was the Natanz uranium enrichment plant, one of the main sites where Iran enriches uranium. It is a huge complex of above-ground buildings and underground tunnels, wrote "Details".

The plant houses centrifuges that spin at enormous speeds and thus separate uranium-238, which is common in nature, from uranium-235, which is needed to make nuclear weapons.

Satellite images taken after the attack clearly show that at least four buildings were destroyed, including the power plant responsible for running the centrifuges. And without electricity, there is simply no enrichment.

An Israeli official speaking to The Wall Street Journal estimated that the underground complex at the Natanz plant may have collapsed after the Israeli attack. He said there were signs of serious damage, but explained that more assessments were needed to verify the extent of the damage.

Another target of the attacks was a major technology center in Isfahan, where uranium powder is converted into gas and then run through centrifuges at one of the enrichment plants to become nuclear fuel or a bomb.

Three major buildings at the Isfahan plant were destroyed in the attack. One of them is believed to have been used to store uranium enriched to intermediate levels, that is, containing up to 20% uranium-235. Uranium enriched above 20% and above is weapons-grade and can be used to make nuclear weapons.

In addition, Israel has attacked radar systems - for example, in northwestern Iran, near the border with Iraq. Where there used to be a structure used by the Iranians to detect Israeli airstrikes, only a crater is now visible.

Satellite images have also recorded damage to a base near Tehran that was one of the most important missile launch sites for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The images show a direct hit on a structure that looks like a command center. Any such hit weakens Iran's ability to launch missiles at Israel.

One of the central facilities of Iran's nuclear program, however, has not yet been damaged. That is the underground uranium enrichment plant at Fordow. It is where Iran can enrich uranium to the highest levels, which are also suitable for bomb production. As long as Fordow remains intact, Israel will not be able to achieve its goal of preventing the development of a bomb.
