High-ranking U.S. officials are preparing for a possible Washington strike on Iran as soon as the next few days.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

Sources said the situation is still developing and could change. Some of the people pointed to potential plans for a strike over the weekend.

Another source said the heads of several federal agencies have also begun preparing for an attack.

Bloomberg added that the officials' preparations are a sign Washington is preparing the infrastructure for direct conflict with Tehran.

The publication also notes that waiting a few days before the strike, gives Iranian leaders an opportunity to show US President Donald Trump that they are willing to give up some uranium enrichment capabilities to deter an American attack.

Reminder, according to the WSJ, Trump has approved a plan for a US attack on Iran. However, he is refraining from implementing it to see if Tehran will give up its nuclear program.
