Axios: Israel May Send Special Forces To Iran's Nuclear Facility

A daring operation is being prepared.

Israel may send its special forces to Iran's Fordow nuclear facility if the US refuses to strike the site.

This is reported by Axios.

According to the publication, Israeli officials believe that US President Donald Trump will decide in favor of a strike. At the same time, they argue that even on their own they could do serious damage to the Fordow facility.

The facility in question is an underground uranium enrichment plant located in a mountain in order to protect it from air attacks.

Axios notes that Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Ambassador to Washington Yehiel Leiter have hinted in recent interviews that the IDF has options beyond airstrikes.

One of them, according to the publication, is a risky special forces operation. Israel's special forces reportedly already conducted such an operation in September 2024, albeit on a smaller scale. In particular, troops destroyed an underground missile factory in Syria by planting and detonating explosives there.

At this point, with Israel in full control of Iranian airspace, and having dealt a major blow to the Iranian army - the special forces option looks less extreme than it could.

A US official said the Israelis have told the Trump administration that although the bombs may not penetrate the mountain deeply enough, "they (the Israelis - ed.) can do it with people."

Reminder, this night the WSJ wrote that Trump has approved a plan for a US attack on Iran, but has not given a final order for its implementation. The White House chief wants to see if Tehran will give up its nuclear program.
