Support for the opposition Tisa party is growing in the country.
Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban may lose power due to a rapid increase in support for the opposition Tisza party.
According to Bloomberg.
According to the latest opinion polls, the new opposition force has not only surpassed the ruling Fidesz party, but also gained a significant advantage - about 15%. Thus, 51% of voters are ready to vote for the party "Tisa", while "Fidesz" is supported by 36%. For comparison, in March, the same sociological group recorded a gap of 9%.
Sociologists believe that this level of support is already enough for the opposition to win a convincing victory in the parliamentary elections - similar to what Fidesz demonstrated in previous years.
Although Tisa is a young political force - it was founded only a year ago, the party is headed by an experienced politician Peter Magyar. He was formerly part of Orban's government, but later split with the prime minister and led an opposition movement. Tisa's campaign focuses on health and education issues.
Bloomberg also notes that amid its loss of popularity, Orban's government has resorted to a crackdown on independent media and civil society. However, due to massive street protests, the authorities had to curtail the so-called "spring cleaning" campaign.
The next parliamentary elections in Hungary are scheduled for spring 2026.
