Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has been taken to hospital due to acute gastroenteritis, the Madrid club's press service said. The French soccer player will undergo examination and treatment.

L'Equipe reported earlier that Mbappe was isolated in a hotel room due to the infection to prevent him from infecting teammates ahead of the club's second World Cup match, which is being played in the United States.

"We don't know if he will be at the second match. We'll see how he recovers in the coming days," Real Madrid head coach Habi Alonso said.
