They will be coordinated with Europe.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of President Donald Trump, said he intends to push for new sanctions against Russia before the Group of Seven summit in mid-June.
As Bloomberg, Graham's joint statement with Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal said Europe and the U.S. should take steps to stop China and India from buying cheap Russian oil.
"In time for the G-7 summit, we hope to introduce sanctions - in coordination with Europe - to send an unequivocal message to China," they said in a statement. They said the sanctions bill against Russia, aimed at cutting off funding for Russia's military operations in Ukraine, now has 82 co-sponsors.
At the same time, it remains unclear whether Trump is ready to take tougher measures against Moscow. But in recent days, Trump has increasingly expressed his displeasure with President Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, the publication notes that Graham's bill, which would impose 500 percent tariffs on imports from countries that buy Russian oil products and uranium, is likely to cause chaos in oil markets.
