CNN: U.S. National Intelligence Chief Loses Favor With Trump

The cause is known.

U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard appears to be losing favor with President Donald Trump. This is due to her attitude toward the situation in the Middle East.

This is reported by CNN.

The publication writes that after the G7 summit in Canada, Trump, while aboard Air Force One, commented on the escalation of tension between Israel and Iran.

The reporters recalled Gabbard's statement to Congress in March, where she asserted that Iran was not actively building nuclear weapons, contradicting Israel's position.

"I don't care what she said. I think they (Iranian officials) were very close to getting it," the media quoted Trump as saying.

These words have sparked controversy within the administration. CNN sources say that Gabbard, who was initially considered a promising player on the national security team, has gradually lost the support of part of the White House and has "drifted away from the message," particularly on the situation in Israel and Iran.

A few weeks ago, White House officials assured that the president not only favors Gabbard, but also willingly spends time with her.

Although some in the administration doubted her ability to handle the position, Trump and his team have been allowing her to get up to speed and adapt to her new responsibilities.

The cause of the conflict was a video in which the U.S. director of national intelligence warned of the threat of nuclear war, which the president took as a criticism of his course.

She has the support of Vice President J.D. Vance, however, who called her an "important member" of the team. Officially, the administration denies a conflict, and a firing is not yet under consideration.

When asked if Gabbard is in danger of being fired, a senior White House official said the president is hesitant to fire someone.

"He's not interested in firing her right now because she's not doing any harm. I think he's questioning her judgment as a value, especially after that video," the outlet quoted the official as saying.

CNN notes that Gabbard is a former Democratic congresswoman who joined Trump's team after she changed her political affiliation.

She has been a vocal opponent of foreign military interventions and has become one of the most high-profile figures in Trump's national security policy. At the same time, according to CNN, some officials believe she still hasn't fully mastered her role in the complex U.S. intelligence structure.
