Estonian intelligence pointed out the Russian Federation's puncture.
The Russian army shows no significant advancement on the eastern front of Ukraine and is increasingly resorting to attacks on peaceful targets. This was stated by Colonel Ants Kiviselg, head of the Estonian Defense Forces Intelligence Center, informs ERR.
According to Kiviselg, Russia's large-scale summer offensive, which has already lasted two months, has actually stalled due to strong Ukrainian defenses and transformed into local battles without a strategic breakthrough.
"The Russian summer offensive, which has been going on for two months now, mainly in eastern Ukraine, has essentially bogged down in the fierce defense of the Ukrainians and has transformed into a tactical-level combat operation in which the Russians are trying to continue their offensive despite heavy losses," he said.
Estonian intelligence estimates that the intensity of attacks from Russia has not increased this week, with the occupiers making an average of 150-160 assault attempts daily.
"Judging by the shelling, we can still say that Russia's main efforts are focused on the Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region, where half of the fighting still takes place," the colonel explained.
With regard to the situation in the north, particularly in Sumy region, Kiviselg noted that the Russian offensive there has practically stopped thanks to the active defense of the AFU, although initially the Russian Federation achieved partial success.
In strategic terms, Russia is not abandoning its goals, however, according to Kiviselg, the AFU is effectively holding back the onslaught and preventing the enemy from making a large-scale breakthrough.
"As for further actions, the assessment remains as follows: although the strategic goals and plans of the Russians have not changed, despite their efforts, the Russian side is unable to make an operational breakthrough on any of the fronts, and the Ukrainian Defense Forces are able to control the pressure," he concluded.
In addition, the representative of Estonian intelligence drew attention to the increase in the number of airstrikes on civilians. If earlier these were isolated cases, now such tactics have become systemic.
"This is still evidence of the will of the Russian Federation, which, if it fails to achieve the expected success on the front, turns to direct terrorist tactics, attacks on civilian objects in order to exert psychological pressure on the population," he emphasized.
