Riga calls for continued pressure on Lukashenko's regime.
Among the 14 political prisoners released from detention centers in Belarus on June 21 are two Latvian citizens, following a report from the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
"Thanks to the leadership of the United States - President President Donald Trump and U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Keith Kellogg - 14 <...> citizens imprisoned in Belarus were released today, including two Latvian citizens - Jurijs Ganins and Dmitrijs Mihailovs. We are pleased that Sergei Tihanovski was also among those released," the statement said.
"The [Alexander] Lukashenko regime still holds more than 1,000 political prisoners and continues to use migrants as a tool of pressure at the borders with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. To change this situation, international pressure on Belarus must continue," the Latvian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
