What's the head of the AFU up to?

The AFU combines defensive actions with active offensive operations in different directions of the front. For this purpose, assault units are being created and scaled up.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the AFU Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky at a meeting with journalists.

As Syrskyy stated, the bet is made on the combination of defensive actions with active defense and local offensives - this is what makes it possible to hold positions and strike where the enemy is weaker.

According to him, passive defense in the current conditions leads only to losses - both of territory and personnel.

"Therefore, we combine defensive actions with active defense and active offensive actions. That is, wherever possible, we strike the enemy, conduct counterattacks. We attack where we see weaknesses in the enemy's defense," he said.

Syrsky said that separate assault units were created to implement active tactics. They appeared during the Kursk operation and are now fighting in almost all the most tense areas.

These units operate both at the offensive stage and during the containment of the enemy, for example, in Sumshchina.

The commander-in-chief said the AFU has plans to expand these units.

Reminder, the enemy is conducting assault actions to create a so-called "buffer zone" in the border areas of Sumy region, trying to capture Yunakovka and improve the tactical situation in the areas of Andreevka and Alekseevka.

According to Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy, two airborne divisions, four main brigades, the 177th Marine Regiment of the Caspian Flotilla and other units remain concentrated in the North Slobozhanskyi direction.
