Iran And Israel Continued Strikes After Trump's Statements

  • 24.06.2025, 8:48

There are casualties.

Despite US President Donald Trump's announcement of a full ceasefire between Israel and Iran, the two countries continued fighting throughout the night before the ceasefire went into effect. Iranian missile strikes in the southern Israeli city of Be'er Sheva killed seven people and injured more than a dozen others, the national health service said Tuesday, June 24, the Deutsche Welle wrote.

Air alert sirens sounded overnight throughout Israel. Iran's state-run Irib television channel reported a new salvo of rockets into Israel. According to dpa, citing Israeli military sources, the Israeli Air Force responded by destroying rocket launchers in western Iran. This came before the "total ceasefire" that Trump had previously announced on his Truth Social network went into effect on the morning of June 24.

Israel has not commented on Trump's statement, Iran has denied it

Israeli authorities have not yet provided any official comment on Trump's statements. An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson declined to comment, and the Israeli military continued air strikes against Iran overnight. The IDF also issued two warnings to residents of several neighborhoods in Tehran to evacuate. The Home Front Command announced that security measures for the population would not be relaxed.

In the meantime, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied Trump's claim that a ceasefire deal had been reached with Israel. However, he wrote on social network X that Iran would stop strikes on Israel if it too halted its hostilities by 4 a.m. on June 24. Tehran will make a final decision on the cessation of hostilities later, Araghchi added.

He also pointed out that the Iranian army's military operations "continued until the very last minute, until 4 am." Some observers and media interpreted this statement by the Iranian Foreign Minister as the Islamic Republic's decision to cease fire.
