NATO Secretary General: All Countries, Including The U.S., Are Fully Committed To Supporting Ukraine

None of the NATO members are "naive" about Russia.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte gave an interview to Reuters following the alliance summit held in The Hague. The main points are quoted by BBC.

None of the NATO members are "naive" about Russia, and all have "more or less the same assessment" of its intentions.

"All of NATO, including the United States, is fully committed to maintaining Ukraine's ability to wage war, to reach the point where if there is any peace agreement - or ceasefire - it will be durable and long-term."

European NATO members will gradually take on a larger share of Ukraine's support, but some assistance will continue to come from the United States. The United States will be "very involved in intelligence sharing, but also in practical military support," including potentially air defense systems. "I think there will still be a big, huge U.S. involvement," Rutte said.
