The buildings of the electromechanical plant "Agat" are being demolished in Minsk.

The buildings have stood on Volgogradskaya Street since the 1950s - and now piles of garbage "two stories high" are already appearing in their place. A reader told about it to the portal onliner.by.

It is expected that 11 hectares of land will not be empty after the demolition of the plant. City planners had their eyes on this site eight years ago, but at that time there were no investors.

Already then there were ideas about a residential complex. In 2023, a whole plan was created.

It is supposed to create nine buildings, each with ten floors. These will be houses for 1180 apartments in total.

"The houses should not be mass series, but individual projects. A kindergarten, public facilities and multi-level parking lots will also be required. The concept includes closed and semi-closed groups of apartment buildings with courtyards without cars. This principle will allow to close the yards from noise and emissions from highways," - onliner.by quotes the words of the project developers.

New square meters want to offer to those in need. But there is a possibility that people without benefits will be able to look for an apartment there as well.

The project will be implemented by a state developer, but who exactly is not known yet.
