Trump Intends To Spend More Than $1 Trillion On Defense

US President Donald Trump has requested $1.01 trillion from Congress for national security spending for fiscal year 2026. This is a 13% increase over the previous year.
"The president's request for the national defense budget for fiscal year 2026 is $1.01 trillion, a 13% increase over the FY 2025 authorized levels," a senior Pentagon official said at a June 26 briefing.
She said the US intends to spend about $60 billion to develop and support all components of the country's nuclear triad in fiscal year 2026.
It was previously reported that the US priorities include projects of strategic importance, in particular the Golden Dome missile defense, shipbuilding and modernization of the nuclear arsenal. The funds will also be used to ensure border security and increase military salaries.
