Unexpectedly, A 17-year-old Hockey Player Was Selected First Among Belarusians At The NHL Draft

Hockey club "Montreal" has formalized the rights to goalie Arseniy Radkov.

17-year-old goaltender Arseni Radkov became the first Belarusian hockey player selected at the 2025 US National Hockey League draft, wrote the telegram channel of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

The NHL Draft is an annual event where league teams select new players to strengthen their rosters. It is usually held in late June.

According to the NOC, the Montreal hockey club signed Radkov in the third round at No. 82 overall. Dynamo Minsk forward Egor Borikov was selected by Utah at No. 110.

NOC noted that earlier in 2024, a landmark event happened for Belarusian hockey. Defenseman Artyom Levshunov was drafted by Chicago under the high second number.
