"There were two more votes in favor than against.
The US Senate has approved US President Donald Trump's bill to cut federal spending, known as the One, Big, Beautiful Bill (The Big Beautiful Bill). This writes NBC.
The bill received 51 votes, with 49 against, including two Republicans - Senators Tom Tillis of North Carolina and Rand Paul of Kentucky.
The document was previously passed by the House of Representatives in May 2025 - also by a minimal margin. At that time, 215 voted in favor, 214 against.
"One, Big, Beautiful" is a sweeping fiscal bill proposed by US President Donald Trump in 2025. It is aimed at realizing his key campaign promises and has already caused a wide resonance both at home and abroad.
The bill would extend the tax breaks that Trump signed into law in 2017, eliminate taxes on tips and overtime, and increase tax deductions for families. However, the document would cut funding for social programs such as Medicaid and SNAP, increase the budget for immigration enforcement programs and military spending, and ceiling the national debt to $4 trillion.
