US President Donald Trump has had a public spat with his former adviser Ilon Musk. Many people thought that it all started when the billionaire criticized the head of Washington's tax bill, but this conflict arose earlier, Axios reported, citing US officials.

It is noted that it all started when Trump canceled the nomination of businessman Jared Isaacman to head NASA. Officials told reporters that he has a great relationship with Musk.

This led to an argument between Trump and Musk on June 5. The billionaire began publicly criticizing the U.S. president.

Officials noted in a conversation with reporters that the initiator of Isaacman's recall was White House top aide Sergio Gore. They said some of Trump's advisers were angry with Gore because it was his strained relationship with Musk that provided the backdrop for the controversy.

The publication added that Republicans in the Senate accused Gore of specifically pushing for the withdrawal of Isaacman's nomination to "settle scores" with Musk, who has repeatedly criticized the leadership of the White House personnel department.
