Thunderstorms With Downpours And Strong Winds Left Dozens Of Settlements In Gomel Region Without Power Supply

Strong wind gusts of up to 20 meters per second, heavy rain and thunderstorms led to power supply disruptions in dozens of settlements of Homel region, reported the regional executive committee. Electricity has already been restored in most places, writes "Zerkalo" .

Because of the bad weather, 72 settlements in the region were without electricity. Gomel, Mazyr and Rechitsa districts suffered the most. Electricity was lost due to trees falling on the wires, damage to poles and other elements of power lines as a result of the elements.

As of 8.00, work continued in 25 settlements. 16 brigades and 8 units of special equipment were involved. According to Gomelenergo, the specialists are doing everything possible to restore power supply as soon as possible.

We recall that at night from June 7 to 8, a thunderstorm front with wind gusts up to 23 meters per second passed through Belarus. Then six settlements in five districts were affected.

Belgidromet announced the orange level of danger for the night and day of June 9, expecting heavy rains, thunderstorms and gusty winds up to 20 m/s throughout the country.
