They are suspected of drug transit.
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan detained two organized criminal groups in Baku, which included Russian citizens.
As haqqin.az reports, they are suspected of transit of narcotic substances from Iran, distribution of drugs via the Internet, as well as cyber fraud.
Operative search operations continue on the facts of illegal actions committed by Russian citizens.
We would like to recall that earlier Baku detained three Russian propagandists.
Azerbaijan-Russia relations escalated after more than 50 people of Azerbaijani origin were detained in Yekaterinburg on June 27. At least two people were killed in the detention. Baku demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice, and the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expressed a "strong protest" to the Russian ambassador. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said afterwards that the detainees were Russian citizens.
With this background, the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation decided not to participate in the meeting of the commission of the Milli Majlis of the republic and the Federal Assembly of Russia on interparliamentary cooperation, and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture canceled all joint cultural events planned in Azerbaijan by Russian state and private institutions.
