Tension between Moscow and Yerevan is growing.

Tension between Moscow and Yerevan is growing. The Armenian authorities are seriously thinking about turning off the Kremlin's propaganda resources in the country.

The chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan has publicly speaked with such an idea.

The official advocated stopping the broadcasting of Russian state TV channels in the republic. He emphasized that the airing of Russian programs is already harming bilateral relations. Simonyan sharply characterized Russian anchors as "degenerates" and "mankurts".

He said that if there is no respect for Armenia's internal sovereignty, it makes sense to limit the access of such channels to citizens' homes.

"If their state TV channels allow themselves to interfere in Armenia's internal affairs, maybe we should also close their access to our citizens' apartments," Simonyan said.

The conflict between Moscow and Yerevan has escalated amid the case of Samvel Karapetyan, a Russian businessman of Armenian origin.

He was recently arrested on charges of calling for a violent seizure of power.

This arrest caused a serious political resonance. The arrest was immediately followed by the nationalization of an energy company under Karapetyan's control.

Moscow reacted very painfully to the arrest of its man in Armenia. In fact, Yerevan has started the process of breaking its dependent relations with the Kremlin, which the Russian authorities do not like very much.
