Ex-Defense Ministry Deputy Head Ivanov Sentenced To 13 Years

Shoigu's former deputy was found guilty of embezzlement of funds and money laundering.
Former Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov has been sentenced to 13 years in a general regime colony and fined 100 million Russian rubles. Such a sentence was announced on Tuesday, July 1, by the Moscow City Court in the case of embezzlement and money laundering.
In addition, Ivanov was deprived of state awards, the Order "For Services to the Fatherland" II degree and the title of honorary builder of Russia, reports "Interfax".
In addition, Ivanov's property worth 2.5 billion rubles was confiscated, including plots of land on Rublevskoye highway, car fleet and money in bank accounts. Timur Ivanov's defense said it would appeal the Moscow City Court's decision.
Another defendant in the same case, former head of Oboronlogistics Anton Filatov, was sentenced to 12 years and six months in a general regime colony and a fine.
