Poland Refused To Lift Sanctions Against Alexander Gleb

  • 10.07.2025, 11:42

The Belarusian footballer remains on the blacklist.

Ex-football player Alexander Gleb asked Poland to take him off the sanctions list. But he was refused, Euroradio noted.

The star player, a former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder, has come under sanctions for supporting Lukashenko. He is banned from entering Poland. Gleb's inclusion in the list was initiated by the Polish Internal Security Agency - ABW.

The footballer's lawyer asked to lift the sanctions, as Gleb allegedly does not engage in politics and does not support the war. However, Poland learned that he participated in the "Unity Marathon" in Mozyr in 2024. This action in support of Lukashenko took place on the eve of the "elections" in 2025. It is difficult to regard it otherwise as support for the regime.

So there were no grounds for lifting the sanctions.
