There are nine known cases.

Russian occupiers from the 272nd motorized rifle regiment killed at least nine of their fellow soldiers on the orders of the commander with the call sign Kirov, according to an investigation by "Suspilne".

The journalists received the relevant documents from sources in Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. The material says that they checked the information and confirmed the death of most of the mentioned Russian military.

In particular, on July 29, 2024, four Russian servicemen of the 272nd motorized rifle regiment - Mikhail Maslov, Andrey Ivanov, Ramil Ganeyev and Evgeny Borovsky - disappeared from the place of duty. This is recorded in extracts from the order of the regiment commander Oleg Bobrov.

Four months later, their corpses - with gunshot wounds to the head and torso - were found by a local resident in a forest belt near the village of Rudovoye, Svatovsky district, Luhansk region. This is 50 kilometers from the front line.

A document of the occupation investigation authorities obtained by journalists says that it was Bobrov who gave orders to kill his subordinates. He instructed junior lieutenant Pavel Gudochkin to do it, and the latter had already involved other military men: Evgeny Fedotov (call sign Enot) and Gennady Kazakov (call sign Ermak).

On September 2, 2024, in the occupied part of the Lugansk region, the mentioned Yevgeny Fedotov and Gennady Kazakov, as well as Alexander Tonilin with the call sign Tony, committed another murder.

They shot up a Niva car that belonged to Fedotov. Inside the car were three of their coworkers. Two - Semen Firtsak and Dmitri Zakharov - were killed. The third - Igor Bondarenko - managed to survive and inform other military officers about the incident.

A few minutes later, Tony, following the orders of Junior Lieutenant Gudochkin, shot Fedotov. The niva, according to a statement obtained by Suspilnyy journalists, was blown up by an anti-tank mine.

According to the document obtained by Suspilnyy's investigative journalists, Fedotov was involved in the murder of seven servicemen of his regiment in total. In addition to those mentioned above, he also killed a military man with the call sign Tolstoy, according to the document.

Open sources say that the 272nd regiment was created as part of the 47th Tank Division of the Russian army in 2022. In March of that year, Sergeant Anton Medvedev, who was killed in the war in Ukraine, was buried in Novomoskovsk.

The next public mention of the 272nd Regiment's participation in a full-scale invasion came in the fall of 2023. According to ISW, in November the regiment was operating toward Stelmakhovka in the Luhansk region. At the end of January 2024, it was redeployed further north - to the area of Tabayevka and Krokhmalnoye in the Kupyansk district of the Kharkiv region. In early May 2024, Russian propaganda reported that the 272nd Regiment captured the village of Kotlyarovka in Kharkiv Oblast.

In late May 2024, ISW reported that the regiment's assault companies participated in battles near Volchansk.

As of July 2025, the regiment was located near Kislovka in the Kupyanka direction of Kharkiv region, according to data from the DeepState project.

In 2024, the regiment was commanded by 36-year-old Oleg Bobrov with the call sign Kirov.
