In Finland, A Ban On Real Estate Purchase For Belarusians Has Started To Work

The law is now in effect.

The ban on real estate transactions for citizens of Belarus and Russia came into force on July 15, 2025, said in the social network X Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen.

The official stressed that "this is an important reform, which has been postponed for too long." According to Antti Häkkänen, the restrictions should have been introduced even "before Russia invaded Ukraine".

"I am very happy that this law has finally been passed and entered into force. It is aimed at strengthening Finland's security," the head of the Finnish Defense Ministry wrote.

Reminder, the Finnish Parliament in April passed a law that allows the Defense Ministry to block real estate transactions for persons or organizations whose state has launched a war of aggression or may pose a threat to Finland's security.
