Israel Attacked The Presidential Palace And General Staff Buildings In Damascus, Syria

The Israel Defense Forces attacked the Syrian capital Damascus on Wednesday, July 16. The strike hit the Syrian General Staff building and the presidential palace. The situation is the same with the Defense Ministry building. This is reported by The Times of Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces said it hit near the entrance to the Syrian army headquarters.

According to Reuters, Israeli authorities said the purpose of their strikes was to protect the Druze minority from "harm from Syrian government forces." Defense Ministry sources told Reuters that at least two drones struck the General Staff building, with officers hiding in the basement at the time.

The Israeli military said it "struck the entrance gate of the Syrian regime's military headquarters compound" in Damascus and that it continues to "monitor developments and actions taken against Druze civilians in southern Syria."
