New Delhi commented on Trump's possible sanctions.

India is confident it can meet its oil needs from alternative sources if supplies from Russia are affected by secondary sanctions, Indian Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said.

U.S. President Donald Trump threatened on Monday that he would impose sanctions on buyers of Russian exports if Moscow does not reach a truce with Kiev within 50 days.

India will be able to deal with any problems related to imports from Russian Federation by seeking supplies from other countries, Puri was quoted by Reuters as saying. The minister noted the emergence of many new suppliers in the market, such as Guyana, as well as affordable supply from existing producers, including Brazil and Canada.

"I am not at all concerned. If something happens, we will deal with it," Puri said at an industry event in New Delhi.

"India has diversified its sources of supply and we have increased the number of supplier countries from about 27 to 40," Puri said.
