Politico: Pentagon Suspends Deliveries Of Some Air Defense Missiles To Ukraine

The decision was initiated by the head of the political department.

The Pentagon has suspended deliveries of some anti-aircraft missiles and other precision munitions to Ukraine over concerns that U.S. weapons arsenals have become too low.

This is reported by Politico, citing knowledgeable sources.

"The decision was initiated by the head of the Pentagon's policy office, Elbridge Colby, following a review of the Defense Department's ammunition stockpile that raised concerns that the total number of artillery shells, air defense missiles and precision weapons was declining," the piece said.

The publication's sources said the initial decision to suspend part of the aid promised during the Biden administration was made back in early June. However, it comes into effect only now - "at a time when Ukraine is reflecting some of the largest Russian attacks with missiles and drones on civilian targets in Kiev and other cities."

It is noted that the Pentagon's decision has raised concerns among Ukraine's allies in Congress that the country will become vulnerable to further Russian airstrikes.
